Frequently asked questions
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We can add your valuable questions to our FAQ section.Â
Â
Â
How early can my child start learning piano?
Â
A: A child can start learning piano as soon as they can take approximately 20 minutes of instruction without being inattentive. The average age is around 4 or 5 years old, but there are students who start as early as 2.5 or 3 years old. 20 minute lessons are available for students who cannot sit or concentrate for long.
Â
How can I prepare my child to be more musical?
Â
A. Get your child into music by surrounding him or her in it. Play the type of music you would like them to play by showing them on the instrument, playing CDs, watching videos together, etc. Second-hand stores sell cheap CDs, which you can fill your music library with. Buying musical toys encourages them to create their own music and to follow rhythms and beats.
How often should a piano student practise?
Â
A. Practise regularly and don't wait long between practices. The suggested time is 15-20 minutes for 3-4 days in the first 6 months when they have 2-3 pieces to play. When their pieces become longer, they should practise 5 days a week. Listening attentively to relevant music is also considered practising. Because music is a cultivated art, there is no such thing as "too much practice." You can always improve by knowing the piece more securely and being able to memorize it. Â
Is a tutor useful for someone who's doing well in school?
A. This should be no surprise--yes! A knowledgeable tutor will provide more education and information for your child. Particularly since classrooms contain up to 30 students, there isn't enough 1-on-1 time for most students. A tutor will help explain things, encourage students to feel comfortable to ask questions, and teach them even more, especially since they have been educated in the same school system.
How can I improve my English?
A. You can improve any area by immersing yourself more in that. For reading, read more. For writing, write more. Pay attention to how people communicate in English but compare different versions of the same expression, so you can figure out the correct way of using that expression. Practise, practise, practise! More tips will be given after an evalution on your needs.Â
